This Monkey year is considered the year of Guru Rinpoche. By his conversion of the human and nonhuman inhabitants of the country and by the power of his blessing, Guru Rinpoche thus created in Tibet and throughout the Himalayan region a protected land where the study and practice of the sutras and tantras could thrive uninterrupted for a thousand years.

 

The Hundred Million Recitation of Vajraguru is annually held in different parts of Nepal. The objective behind holding such holy event is to benefit all mother sentient beings, help them liberate from the cycle of samsara, pacify the war and famine and natural disaster, to prevail peace and harmony all around the world and least but not the last, to spread the Buddha Dharma.

 

Because of the good karma accumulated, 11 times the Hundred Million Recitation of Vajra Guru has been completed so far and the 11th Hundred Million Recitation of Vajra Guru was held in Jyasa Monastery, Eastern Solukhumbu, Nepal, which was led by Simdha Getul Namdak Choying Rinpoche.

 

It is found in the translation of a treasure text which explains the Vajra Guru Mantra, if this essence mantra, the Vajra Guru mantra, is repeated as much as possible, a hundred times, a thousand times, ten thousand times, a hundred thousand times, a million, ten million, a hundred million times and so forth, if it is repeated in holy places, in temples, next to great rivers, in areas where gods and demons abound, if it is recited in these places by tantric practitioners with pure samaya, by people with monastic ordination who maintain their vows purely, by men and women who possess faith in the teachings, if they give rise to bodhicitta on a grand scale and recite this mantra, then the benefits and advantages and energy of such practice are truly inconceivable. This will avert all of the negative forces of disease, famine, unrest, bad harvests and all bad omens and indications in all the countries of the world, such that the rain will fall in a timely manner for the crops so there will always be a plentiful supply of water for agriculture and for human and animal life, and all regions and areas will experience prosperity and auspicious conditions.

 

It was extremely fortunate for thousands of disciples from all around could attend the Hundred Million Recitation of Vajra Guru and was a successful one. The fear of uncertain natural disaster couldn’t be compared to the faith of thousands of disciples who aspires to become the student to the path of enlightment.

 

May all sentient beings have equanimity, free from attachment, aggression and prejudice.

May they be happy, and have the cause of happiness.

May they be free from suffering and causes of suffering.

May they never be separated from the happiness that is free from suffering.

 

By this virtue, May each of us soon reach Guru-Buddha-State, and each and every being to that state of Buddhahood.  May the precious Bodhicitta not yet born, arise and grow.

May that born have no decline but increase forever more.
