On 24th December, under the guidance of Simdha Getul Rinpoche, the members of Orgyen Pema Buddhist Society went to distribute the blanket to the homeless people in Kathmandu valley, Nepal. Since long Simdha Getul Rinpoche has been distributing clothes, blankets and etc to the homeless and destitute ones whenever it is possible by him. And since the year 2019, after the official registration of the Orgyen Pema Buddhist Society, we have it taken it as our one of the main important activity. We try to do it as much as possible but for that we would be needing as much help as possible. Winter in Nepal and India is very cold and due to this cold, so many poor people dies. Because of which Rinpoche has given us special instruction of carrying on this important work of helping the poor homeless people who are sleeping out in the cold without shelter. We wear our warmest clothes, turn on the heater and gets in blanket and still discuss how cold it was last night, then just speculate how it would be for them. A small blanket might not look would make so much difference but it will definitely help them have a warmer night if not rescue from the cold completely.

This is the story of Gautam Buddha about the act of generosity.

"One day a monk noticed a tear in Gautama Buddha’s robe and offered to stitch it, but Buddha refused his offer. He kept walking and begging alms in his torn robe. When he headed toward the hideout of a destitute woman, the monks were puzzled because they knew that she had no alms to offer. When she saw his torn robe, the woman offered to mend it with what little string she had. Siddhartha accepted and declared that her virtue would allow her to be reborn in her next life as a queen of the heavens. Many people who heard this story were inspired to acts of generosity of their own."

Simdha Getul Rinpoche's Message:

Today with me, my entourage from Orgyen Pema Buddhist Society members have gone out to distribute the blankets to the homeless and destitute around the valley of Kathmandu, Nepal on the night of Guru Rinpoche day. Today is even more special to me, because it not only marks the day of Guru Rinpoche but also tomorrow is the birthday of my Guru Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche and I would like to dedicate all the merit for the long life of His holiness Kyabje Shechen Rabjam and for his dharma activity to flourish and also for the benefit of all mother sentient beings. This pandemic has affected greatly to all of us but the worst it has impacted on such homeless and poor, destitute people whose even three meals of the day is also depended on the daily wages. I am sharing these photos here hoping to inspire even one of you to do the same and help someone who needs your help at this difficult time.

“Happy Holiday” and “Merry Christmas” to all the friends here who celebrate this beautiful holiday.

Stay safe but keep your mind free from all illusion and negative thoughts and worries.
