About the Event

This annual Ganachakra offering is one of the main practices of Simdha Getul Rinpoche over the years. He would make it the point that where ever he goes to the pilgrimage, he offers Ganachakra at all those holy places. Besides, Rinpoche too assemble few tens or hundreds of monks at a holy place like Mahaboudhi temple, Boudhanath stupa, Tsopema and Bhutan to offer Ganachakra. At many occasions, these Ganachakra offerings has been done in Boudhanath Stupa but since year 2019, Rinpoche has decided to do this annual 100000 accumulations of Ganachakra offering to be done in different holy places. In year 2019, it was done in Tsopema and in year 2020 and 2021, it was done at Boudhanath Stupa. Due to Pandemic, it is still risky to travel so again this year we will be doing at Boudhanath Stupa.

This most profound annual practice of Ganachakra will begin on the auspicious day of Medicine Buddha Day of 10th March, 2022 of Chötrul Düchen for three consecutive days and will conclude on the auspicious day of Guru Rinpoche day of 12th March, 2022 of Chötrul Düchen. Chötrul Düchen closely follows Losar, the Tibetan New Year. It takes place on the fifteenth day of the first month in the Tibetan Calendar. The first fifteen days of the year celebrates the fifteen days during which the Buddha displayed miracles for his disciples so as to increase their devotion. During Chötrul Düchen ("Great Day of Miraculous Manifestations"), it is believed that the effects of both positive and negative actions are multiplied ten million times.

In connection with samaya, one of the practices that has been developed is called a feast offering,  ཚོགས་ཀྱི་འཁོར་ལོ་ tsok kyi khorlo. The word ཚོགས་, Tsok means ‘an accumulation’ or ‘a gathering, an assembly or group’, and the word འཁོར་ལོ་, khorlo literally means ‘wheel.’ So the literal translation is something like ‘wheel of accumulation.’

The Sanskrit word Ganachakra if translated in Tibetan it means - Tsok practise which is also mean ཚོགས་ཀྱི་འཁོར་ལོ་ tsok kyi khorlo. The inner level of Ganachakra practice, and the generation of vast ‘gatherings’ of bliss that are like ‘wheels’ can cut through the web of our deluded thoughts and tainted emotions.

The Naturally Arisen Perfection Tantra states:

The virtues of performing feast offerings are such that the obscurations of countless past and future lives Will be purified in a mere instant in the presence of the peaceful and wrathful deities.

The two obscurations, the habitual tendencies, the general downfalls of transgressing the three vows, and the particular transgressions of the root and branch samayas of secret mantra that have been accumulated since time without beginning—all of these are purified and restored. The tantra continues: Wherever you are born in your lives to come, You will never lack necessities, The wheel of Dharma will always turn for you, And you will always have an abundance of wealth, Enjoyments, sustenance, and belongings.

As the karmic ripening, you will have mastery over a sky-treasury of both spiritual and material enjoyments. You will be blessed with an excellent environment, pure intentions, and vast accumulations of merit and wisdom. Such benefits will be reaped not just in your future lives, but you will experience them in this life too. Moreover, the Vajra Net tantra states:

From among all types of merit, the practice of gaṇacakra is supreme. Through these, all your aims for this life will be fulfilled, And all negative forces and obstacles pacified. In your future lives, in the pure realms of victorious vidyādhara, You will reach the level of Samantabhadra.

As stated, all adversities—such as diseases, harmful forces, and hardships—will be pacified, and your lifespan, merit, and prosperity will increase. The infinite activities of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and subjugating will all be accomplished, just as you desire. The samayas of the boundless three roots will be fulfilled. The protectors and guardians of phenomenal appearance will be delighted, all beings of the six classes will be satisfied, and all siddhis will be effortlessly attained. In short, the benefits are limitless. As The Two Segments Tantra states: Whatever is eaten, all the sense pleasures Of the practitioners will transform into siddhis.

The main benefit of Tsok practice mentioned in the tantras is the accumulation of merit with conceptual focus as well as the accumulation of wisdom beyond focus. In the termas, we also find mention of unimaginable benefits. There could be no greater benefit than this. For example, it is said that Guru Rinpoche himself will come and bless the tsok practitioners, or that the place where tsok is performed will become exactly the same as the Zangdokpalri _ "the Copper Plated Mountain"; pure land of Guru Rinpoche. And Khandro Yeshé Tsogyal said that to practice tsok just once closes the door to lower rebirths. Practise of Ganachakra Puja removes all the obstacles and wish fulfilling. It is also considered that one Ganachakra puja done has greater benefit than hundreds of Puja of “Invoking of wealth”.
