About the Event

Every year during the holy month of Saka Dawa, Simdha Getul Rinpoche performs an accumulation of 100,000 Ganachakra (feast offerings). However, this year during the same holy month of Saka Dawa, Simdha Getul Rinpoche will lead the preparation of precious Rilbu. These are also known as sacred medicinal pills or amrita pills, prepared in accordance with sacred rituals and accomplished within the context of Kagyed Drupcho. Alongside the precious pills, we have prepared 500 wealth vases of Orgyen Khandro Norlha and Dzambala, which will be blessed and consecrated during the 8-day Drupcho. Simultaneously, 100,000 feast offerings will be accumulated over the 8 days.

Hundreds of precious medicinal herbs and relics are gathered, and the sacred pills are made according to the ritual instructions for creating and accomplishing these precious pills. This year during Kagyed Drupcho, Tendu Rilbu will be made with the utmost care and in accordance with the traditions laid out by the great masters. Kagyed, or the Eight Commands for Sādhana Practice, is a vast and important cycle of teachings entrusted to Guru Rinpoche and the Eight Vidyādharas of India. These teachings were transmitted to Tibet and form the core of the Nyingma system of Mahāyoga practices, which are held in many monasteries annually. The ritual is unbroken, aiding practitioners in overcoming obstacles, obscurations, and developing pure vision. It is said that a few days of such Drubchen are equivalent to three years of solitary retreat. The Kagyed mandala consists of five wrathful wisdom deities representing the enlightened body (Yamāntaka), speech (Hayagrīva), mind (Yangdak Heruka), qualities (Amritakundali), and the enlightened activity of all buddhas (Vajrakilaya). Additionally, there are three semi-worldly or worldly deities: Mamo Bötong, Jikten Chötö, and Möpa Drakngak. The central deity of the mandala is Chemchok Heruka. One main intention of holding this Drupcho is to establish peace and harmony throughout the world. We invite all our dharma disciples to participate, regardless of their knowledge and Dharma experience. We dedicate the merit of this profound Drupcho to all sentient beings and pray for the well-being and long life of all our Gurus and practitioners of the Buddha dharma.

Along with the Kagyed Drupcho, we will continue to accumulate the 100,000 Ganachakra (feast offering) for the whole eight days, but this year, we will follow the Eight Commands of Sadhana (Kagyed Drupcho). There is vast benefit in doing a feast offering even once in our life. For instance, in the final teaching of Khandro Yeshé Tsogyal, it is found that her voice resounded from a cloud of brilliant light, bestowing: “The Lotus-Born is your predestined teacher. To accomplish the Guru, you should strive, perceiving your own teacher in the form of Padma. Thus, the blessings of compassion will flow more abundantly. Practice on the Teacher’s Mind in sadhanas both long and short, and Buddhahood, I pledge, in one life will be yours. Recite the quintessential Guru Siddhi mantra. On the tenth day of the waxing and waning moon, and on the eighth and fifteenth of the month, keep the Ganachakra feast with offerings. A single Ganachakra, and the door to birth in lower realms is closed! I promise, it will lead you to the state of no returning. This is a certain truth. Know and understand!” The main benefit of Ganachakra Puja (Tsok practice) mentioned in the tantras is the accumulation of merit with conceptual focus, as well as the accumulation of wisdom beyond focus. In the termas, we also find mention of unimaginable benefits. There could be no greater benefit than this. For example, it is said that Guru Rinpoche himself will come and bless the Tsok practitioners, or that the place where Tsok is performed will become exactly like Zangdokpalri, the “Copper Plated Mountain”—the heaven of Guru Rinpoche. The practice of Ganachakra Puja removes all obstacles and can also be considered wish-fulfilling. One Ganachakra puja done has greater benefit than hundreds of pujas of “Invoking Wealth.”

Wealth Summoning Puja: Lama Orgyen Khandro Norlha, ‘The Fertile Shower of Fulfilling All Wishes’, is a wealth and prosperity practice based on Orgyen Norlha, the ‘Lama of All Dzambhalas’, a form of Guru Rinpoche.

The Orgyen Norlha practice is especially effective for capturing, restoring, and increasing the energy of ‘yang’ or wealth. Wealth in this sense refers not only to monetary wealth but also to anything that has value in our lives—the richness of vibrant health, nutritious food, clean environments; the prosperity that comes from the creative forces of the universe, the richness of friendship and community, the wealth that comes from inner peace and happiness, as well as material prosperity. As the world plunges deeper into economic crises and hardship, the need to strengthen and restore lost yang is greater than ever.

The Kagyed Drupcho, Rilbu preparation, and Bumtsok Puja are all significant practices in the Nyingma tradition aimed at benefiting all sentient beings. Such a profoundly spiritual and meaningful event has been planned during the holy month of Saka Dawa. The combination of these practices, along with the opportunity for dharma disciples to participate virtually via Facebook and Zoom, offers a chance for many to connect, learn, and accumulate merit. The complete Drupcho, Bumtsok, and Yangdrup last for eight days. We will go live on Facebook, and those who would like to accumulate Ganachakra with us can attend the accumulation on Zoom. The Zoom link will be shared on our Orgyen Pema Facebook page.
