Khandro Kalsang Choedon was born in 1988 in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh one of the most sacred places associated with Guru Padmasambhava and Mandarava, known as Tsopema Lake (Rewalsar). Raised amidst the spiritual energy of this holy site, she was deeply influenced by the Dharma from a young age. Her parents, themselves devoted practitioners, were close disciples of Lama Wangdor Rinpoche, and Khandrola was regarded as his goddaughter. Growing up in this sacred environment shaped her inner foundation with the blessings of Guru Rinpoche’s presence.
She completed her early education across various schools, finishing high school. She then pursued her higher education at the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi University, where she earned her Bachelors degree in commerce; an undergraduate academic degree program focused on commerce, business, and finance followed by masters in fashion management in Mumbai. Her creative spirit and determination led her to work with several international fashion brands, building a successful career rooted in elegance and modernity.
However, her life’s path took a profound turn when she encountered Simdha Getul Namdak Choying Rinpoche. Drawn together by karmic destiny and spiritual alignment, Rinpoche and Khandrola were joined in a private family ceremony in India. Their union was not merely personal, but a sacred companionship confirmed through divination and blessings from His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin, affirming the depth of their connection.
In a deeply auspicious gesture, they inaugurated the first-ever Great Bumtsok Feast Offering at Tsopema — a grand ceremony attended by monks and practitioners from Nepal. What began as a singular act of devotion has now blossomed into a treasured annual tradition, entering its 8th year. Held every year during the sacred lunar month, the Bumtsok is observed for three to eight days, serving as a powerful expression of collective offering, spiritual renewal, and lineage blessing.
Known since childhood for her gentle and compassionate nature, Khandrola’s life reflects a deep inner calling. Though her early path showed signs of worldly success, those who knew her well always sensed she was destined for something more meaningful. Meeting Rinpoche not only affirmed that destiny but deepened her commitment to the Dharma path.
Today, Khandro Kalsang Choedon plays an integral role in assisting Rinpoche’s Dharma activities, while continuing to immerse herself in learning, practicing, and upholding the precious Simdha lineage. Her strength lies not only in her devotion but in her grace — walking the path with humility, depth, and an open heart.
In 2018, their life together was further blessed with the birth of their daughter, Jetsun Ahkar Lhamo, bringing joy and continuity to their lineage and aspirations.
Through her life’s journey — from the sacred hills of Tsopema to the heart of Dharma service — Khandro Kalsang Choedon embodies the union of wisdom and devotion, of modern strength and timeless faith. Rooted in the blessings of Guru Padmasambhava and the compassionate guidance of the precious lineage, she continues to walk the path not only as a consort but as a committed practitioner, nurturing spiritual growth within and around her. With her radiant presence, boundless kindness, and unwavering dedication to Rinpoche’s vision, Khandrola stands as a living bridge between tradition and the ever-evolving world, quietly inspiring many through the grace of her example.
