Construction of Stupa_ Completed

Solukhumbu, Nepal

The Project of building the enlightenment stupa at Solukhumbu has been completed. We would like to thank all our benefactors for your constant support in all our projects and dharma activities of Simdha Getul Rinpoche.

Message from Simdha Getul Rinpoche : "This is the relic stupa of my grandfather Rinpoche who passed away showing all the signs of great realisation. Therefore, during the time, under the guidance of H.H. Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche, this stupa was built. Yab Rinpoche - my father also told me about the preciousness of this stupa not only because it belongs to his father who was a great practitioner but also because it was blessed by Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche himself for seven days. This stupa was later affected by the earthquake of 2015 in Nepal and thus demolished. Although I never had the opportunity to see my grandfather rinpoche but when I hear about his activity from father, I realise how great practitioner he was and also being the part of this family, in the year 2018, I started the renovation of this stupa. It is rebuilt with the same relics which was previously blessed by Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche. I hope and pray that this stupa is will bring immense merit to all mother sentient beings and instil the seed of dharma and the meritorious virtue to all beings who come to it’s presence."

Rinpoche wishes to build many more stupas in Himalayan region for the sake of preservation of dharma in remote areas, as it says In the Sutra of the White Lotus of the Sacred Dharma, Walls are made from mud and bricks And a stupa of the Victorious One is made likewise. Therefore, even if made by a simple heap of dust in a remote place of despair, or if a child playing games makes one from a mound of sand, Whomever simply builds one on the account of the Victorious one All of them will attain enlightenment.

There are mentioned many benefits for building a stupa.

If I mention an incident of the origin of stupas happened when the Buddha was at Rajgir which is found mentioned in the Kangyur. At that time he was addressing about five-hundred bhikkshus and seven thousand two hundred Bodhisattvas. At that congregation the Bodhisattva Maitreya put a question to the Buddha. Maitreya asked, "In the distant future there will come a time when it will be very hard for people to practise Dharma. Due to the enormous number of negative forces and many types of interference they will not be able to practise as they would like. What conducive factors will be needed to ward-off and pacify all these negative forces?"

The Buddha explained that five factors would be needed. If these five factors were present, people would be free of interference from negative forces and they would live long. As well, these five factors would gradually contribute to the practitioners' attainment of enlightenment.

The first factor is to give Dharma constantly with the intention of helping others.

The second factor is constantly to give sentient beings a sense of security, or freedom from fear. This means to constantly save beings whose lives are at risk, and provide them with security and peace of mind.

The third factor is constantly to reflect on the four types of immeasurables.

The fourth factor is constantly to repair old stupas or to commission or construct new stupas.

The fifth factor is constantly to maintain the mind of enlightenment, Bodhicitta, the universal altruism to want to achieve the state of enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings. One needs to maintain this in one's mind all the time.

Of the five factors the Buddha spelt out, one is repairing old stupas and making new ones. If one is able to do that it will bring a lot of benefit to oneself and others in the future.

In the sutra The way of Distinguishing it is said: The Buddha told the young Brahmin Naytso,“There are eighteen benefits of building a Tathagata stupa. Not only building a stupa will bring benefit to us in the future but also it is find mentioned that as a result of building a stupa, One will have an excellent body, One will become very beautiful and attractive, One will develop a very sharp intellectual capacity, One will become renowned, One will have a great entourage of servants, One will become a leader of people, One will be a support to others, One's greatness will be expounded in the ten directions, One will be able to extensively express whatever one wishes in word and verse, One will be worshipped by gods, One will posses many riches, One will obtain the kingdom of a universal monarch.

One will have a long life, One’s body will be like a collection of vajras, One’s body will be endowed with major and minor marks of a Buddha, One will take rebirth in the three higher realms and

One will swiftly achieve Nirvana”.

There is vast merit in construction of the stupa. It is said to simply be able to build a stupa either it be small or big or just a simple one made of sand and mud also has been because of the consequences of your great merit in the past. In the sutra called Chest of Secret Relics it is said that the Bhagavan proclaimed to Vajrapani that  when you write down Dharma teachings and place them inside a stupa, that stupa will become a relic of the vajra essence of all Tathagatas. That stupa will be consecrated by the secret essence of all the mantras of the Tathagatas. It will become a stupa of ninety-nine Tathagatas, as many as a heap of mustard seeds. And whoever places images of the Buddha inside a Stupa will definitely be blessed by those Tathagata images with the nature of the seven royal treatises of a universal monarch and whoever pays reverence and honors that stupa will definitely become a non-returner and will eventually achieve the unexcelled and completely perfect state of enlightenment–actual, full Buddhahood. Even if one offers only one prostration or makes a single circumambulation, one will be altogether freed from reaching various hell realms such as the Hell of Incessant Torturen and one will never fall back on the path to unexcelled completely perfect Enlightenment. All Tathagatas will bless the entire area that surrounds the place the stupa has been built in.

We dedicate the merit of building the stupa to all our kind and generous benefactors and students of Simdha Getul Rinpoche around the world. May Rinpoche’s all project goes smoothly success and beneficial to all beings.
